This challenging trek is for our most adventurous guests, offering a high altitude rocky trek to the summit of Sincholagua at 4900 metres (16,076 feet). This adventure includes rock climbing with a harness, helmet and rope to reach the summit. The rock climbing does not require experience but the courage to scale the rocks. It is an excellent trek for people who want to try something more technical, as well as for acclimatisation for those looking to tackle one of the Ecuador’s higher peaks.

You will depart from The Secret Garden Cotopaxi around 6am and return by about 3.30pm. You will drive for 1-1.5 hours until the start of the hike. The ascent takes around 3-4 hours depending on conditions and includes some steep, slippery sections. The last 25-30 metres require rock climbing using a harness, helmet and rope. The level of climbing is easy and does not require previous experience. The guide will climb up first and then help the rest of the group. You will spend a bit of time at the summit to rest and take some pictures, before descending and returning to the hostel for a late lunch.
