Frequent Questions about Lodge at Cuyabeno
Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve is one of the largest protected areas in the Ecuadorian Amazon. It is famous for its flooded forests, lagoons, incredible biodiversity, and the opportunity to see wildlife such as monkeys, pink river dolphins, caimans, birds, and many other species in their natural habitat.
Most travelers reach Cuyabeno by flying or taking an overnight bus from Quito to Lago Agrio. From Lago Agrio, transport takes you to the Cuyabeno Bridge, where you continue by motorized canoe along the river to reach the lodge deep inside the rainforest.
Cuyabeno is home to a huge variety of wildlife. Visitors often see monkeys, pink river dolphins, sloths, birds, frogs, insects, and caimans. The reserve has more than 500 species of birds and many different mammals and reptiles.
Cuyabeno can be visited all year round. The rainy season usually provides better canoe access through flooded forests and more wildlife activity, while the drier months offer more hiking opportunities.
Most visitors choose tours of 4 days and 3 nights or 5 days and 4 nights. This allows enough time to explore the jungle, visit indigenous communities, take canoe trips, see wildlife, and fully experience the Amazon environment.
